Earlier this week Kindersley MLA Bill Boyd announced he'll retire September 1. Now the Eston native is asking the conflict of interest commissioner to investigate his role with an irrigation company.

Boyd stepped down from his position as minister of economy a year ago, and since visited China promoting the company Modern Hi-Efficiency Agriculture Corporation.

Boyd was part of creating immigration legislation and the corporation claims to help entrepreuners immigrate to Canada. Boyd also appeared on signs for the company with the title Minister of Economy.

He says it's a Chinese tradition of using someone's former title - akin to saying Secretary Clinton. But Premier Brad Wall sent a letter to Boyd on August 3rd stressing the importance of never inaccurately representing the government of Saskatchewan.

Boyd doesn't believe he did anything wrong, but asked for the review regardless.
