Update:

A 25-year-old female from Blumenort, SK was pronounced deceased on scene. Her family has been notified and her name will not be released.

The 31-year-old adult male driver from the Swift Current area, from the other vehicle, was airlifted to hospital by STARS ambulance with undetermined injuries. Both vehicles had lone occupants.

Swift Current and Moose Jaw Traffic Reconstructionists are currently assisting with the RCMP's on-going investigation.

Highway 4 south of Swift Current is now open following a fatal car crash this morning.

The highway was closed by emergency services at approximately 8 a.m. before re-opening to the public at 3 p.m. this afternoon.

The two-car motor vehicle collision occurred approximately 10 kilometres south of the City of Swift Current.

One motorist, who was stopped at the scene around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, described the road conditions as "slick" at the time of the crash.

Another motorist, driving along Highway 4, witnessed the crash and said he saw the north-bound truck cross over the centre line into south-bound traffic before being struck by the south-bound truck.

Both trucks caught on fire upon impact. One of them was severed in half.
