Totals are in outlining just how much funds were raised from last month's Carhartts and Caviar event.

The banquet hosted at Swift Current's Great Plains College was raising funds from the price of admission, raffles, and an auction.

Items up for auction included two metalworks constructed by welding students at the college, and other various pieces of art and furniture.

Thirty-one thousand dollars were raised from the evening of festivities, $13,570 of which was raised by the auction alone.

Funds collected from the seventh annual event went towards welding scholarships and welding equipment.

Dianne Sletten, the donor services coordinator at Great Plains College, said that this year's total was very similar to previous totals.

"Last year we raised a little bit more," the long-time attendee of Carhartts and Caviar said. "It was just over $33,000, and the year before was right in there between that $30 and $32,000 again as well.

"The last few years have been phenomenal...Its been kind of gradually been increasing every year."

It is not yet known what the funds generated will be going towards this year.

Sletten said that companies went above the minimum when it came to supporting this year.

"We had a number of new businesses that had come this year and bought tables, some of them even ended up buying, bidding and buying some of the auction items, so that was really good to see."

A de-briefing meeting is still needed to decide the path that the funding will take, as well as a discussion about a possible continuation of the banquet next year.
