Thursday March 7 at the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Center in Shaunavon, students from Eastend, Consul and Shaunavon, their families and school staff congregated to celebrate their achievements in the Classroom Champions Program.

Classroom Champions is a non profit organization that partners Olympic and Paralympic athlete mentors with school students to help them learn skills that will help them succeed in and out of the classroom.

Canadian Champion Track and Field athlete, Sam Effah, also attended the 'Better Together" community celebration of the students achievements through the year long mentorship program and talked about how the grade one to six students benefit. "So they learn goal setting, smart goals, specific measurable, attainable, realistic, family goals. They learn perseverance. They learn friendship skills. They learn how to be successful. And they learn that it's ok to dream, but you need to take it back a step and plan. It kinda gives them that road to success but knowing how to re-set success."

Effah has been a part of the Classroom Champion Program for five years.

The event in Shaunavon was sponsored by Classroom Champions corporate partners, Crescent Point Energy.
