At Monday's City council, the City declared the week of December 3 to December 9 Salvation Army week.

The week will give people an opportunity to recognize all the work the Salvation Army does to help people within the community.

Major Don Grad with the Salvation Army said that this week is a good week for the proclamation as they have a lot happening.

"This first week of December is typically a very busy week," he said. "With the hamper applications, the food sorting, and we will be going to a couple of senior holmes this week, it's just a good week to do it."

Grad said that to have this week proclaimed, is a great thing to have.

"I think for the city and people it's a good chance to learn about what we do. It's an awareness thing for people, and it's kind of nice to be able to put our name out there."

Grad added that he hopes that this week can become an annual thing, as this is the second year Salvation Army week has been proclaimed in Swift Current.
