The City of Swift Current set their 2018 mill rate at Tuesday nights city council.

The uniform mill rate was set at 10.553 mills up from last year's 9.67 mills, which will allow the City to collect the budgeted taxation revenue.

Kathy Hopfner, general manager of corporate services with the City of Swift Current, said 80 per cent of the total assessed value is taxable.

"So you'd take the assessed value of your home, you'd multiply it by 10.553 mills, then by the residential mill rate factor which is 0.38, you'd divide that by 1,000 and add in the base tax."

The base tax per residential property is $785 per property and per condominium, it's the same price.

While creating the bylaw, the City also exempt 26 charitable or not-for-profit organizations from having to pay their property tax for 2018.
