The future plans for a pair of former school sites in Swift Current are close to being set in stone after a recent open house.

On Tuesday night the City of Swift Current presented a few draft concepts on what the future may hold for Ashley Park School and Oman School sites.

Michael Ruus, general manager of planning and growth development with the City of Swift Current, said they have collected a ton of community input on the two empty sites and that has shaped what they displayed to the public at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

"We're a presenting back to the public and those residents that participated to get some feedback on how we did and how close we got to what they had envisioned for those school sites," he said.

The Ashley Park site plan includes a redevelopment of the north half of the lot to accommodate for 13 single-detached units and on the other part of the lot would feature an enhanced park space.

And the Omen site plan has would also enhance the park space while adding 15 new single-family lots with an additional nine single unit narrow lots.

"On all of the school sites including St. Joseph's, St. Patrick School, and these two sites, there has been a real focus from the residents and from the City to really enhance and provide connection with our green space," Ruus added.

The City will keep a public survey open for feedback on their concept plans for both sites until the end of August.

"Following that we would be taking all of that information and working with the City's consulting firm again try to use all that feedback to make any last minute tweaks to the plan," Ruus explained. "Then we'd move forward taking that to city council this fall."
