On Sunday, an email went out to staff at Sask Polytechnic announced that all online and applied learning classes would be cancelled from Monday to Wednesday as the school network worked to safely restore their systems after what they are calling a "cybersecurity incident".

Sask Poly issued a media release stating that it was taking the matter very seriously and is working with outside experts to assess the impact of the hack.

They added that there was no reason to conclude, at this time, that any personal information had been compromised.

An anonymous source, who shared the email with media (included below), has added that his department head has confirmed this morning that the attack is ransomware in nature. A second source within Sask Poly has validated the email.

Sask Poly has stated that they will be releasing another update later today.

Swift Current Online will have more on that when it becomes available.
