The Village of Stewart Valley extended a precautionary drinking water advisory by another week yesterday, but Village Administrator Teresa Johnsgaard is optimistic it will be lifted next week.

Johnsgaard said they repaired their water pump on Thursday. The Village is sending samples for testing on Sunday and Monday, so things could be good to go by Thursday. Typically there's a 48-to-72-hour wait for results.

Two consecutive samples must be up to snuff before the advisory is lifted.

The boiled-water advisory was initially put into place on August 21.
