Effective immediately, a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory (PDWA) has been issued for the Village of Waldeck.

The advisory has been put in place due to cistern cleaning currently happening in the village 18 kilometres east of Swift Current on the Trans-Canada.

Residents are asked to boil water for one minute prior to use, and to avoid ingestion until the advisory is lifted - an expected time frame of between 48 and 72 hours, according to Glenn Charles, Councillor with the Village of Waldeck.

"I would expect it to be within that window," he said. "The situation is after a cleaning like this the Water Security Agency and the Village workers handling the water supply have to do testing on the water to ensure it's at all the right levels."

Once three samples have received negative test results regarding any issues with water quality, the advisory will be lifted by the Water Security Agency and the Village of Waldeck.
