On Friday the Gull Lake Elks Club held their annual steak supper.

The supper has been used to raise money for different projects in the community and this year it was used to raise money towards helping repair the roof on the Elks Hall, which is where the supper was held.

Bruce Gibson is the president of the Elks Club in Gull Lake and said that this years event went very good.

"We had a good turnout of 103 people and very good steaks," he said. "Everybody came together and put on a pretty good show. I think we raised somewhere between $2,000 and $2,500 for the roof of the hall that is in need of repair, so every little bit counts and we are still trying to move forward on that project."

Gibson said that to repair the roof, it's looking like it's going to cost a lot of money.

"We are starting to get numbers and had some guys look at it, and it's going to be up to 90 to 100 thousand dollars or better or less, so we don't know the exact numbers," he said. "We are sitting at about $10,000 raised."

Gibson added with the uncertainty of how much it's going to cost to repair, they can't really set a goal of how much is actually needed.

The annual supper has been taking place for about a decade, and Gibson said it's been able to help out the community with the money.

"Usually we take the money from our steak supper and give it to somebody that needs the funds," he said. "We've done the daycare, the ball diamonds, we usually just pick a project in town, but this one we kind of have to keep for ourselves because we have a major project with the hall."

Gibson said that the supper is a lot of work, but they are happy to do it every year.
