SaskAbilities Swift Current has recently received a grant from the Government of Canada's Emergency Community Support Fund, round 2, administered through United Way Regina.

These dollars are funding a series of art-therapy workshops being presented by Brunswick Creek Psychology, created specifically to support adults experiencing disability.

Sessions which are being held virtually at this time, are running December through to March.

Jayda Watson is the Program Manager with SaskAbilities, Swift Current Branch. She explains the importance of the workshops. "Well, mental health and well being have been on the forefront of many of our minds as we've navigated the changes due to COVID-19. And individuals experiencing disability are no different. They're also experiencing the same pandemic fatigue as everyone else including the lack of in-person connection, and being able to be involved in the community as they were previous."

She adds that the workshops have been very well received so far and have had a positive impact on those they serve.

The total amount of the funding was $10,000.
