The federal government has started announcing revisions to proposed tax changes for small businesses that had many Saskatchewanians ticked off.

A campaign promise by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberals to cut the small business tax rate from 10.5 per cent to nine per cent in 2019 will be carried through. The rate will fall to 10 per cent in January before hitting the nine-per-cent mark the following year.

The reaction to the proposed tax rates - for which the consultation period ended October 2 - has featured plenty of resentment.

The agricultural community has been very vocal in their disapproval of the original proposal, as it would make it costly for intergenerational farm transfers.

"[We will] make sure we don't affect the transfer of a business to the next generation," said Finance Minister Bill Morneau, regarding farmers.

More changes to the proposal are expected to be announced throughout the week.
