The government of Saskatchewan has issued a restriction on all open fires in five of its provincial parks.

Both provincial parks in the southwest - Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park and Saskatchewan Landing - were included on the list.

Included on the list is Buffalo Pound, Danielson and Douglas.

While the ban is in effect, parks will allow - at their own discretion - self-contained portable gas heating devices, fire pits, barbeques, pressurized stoves, and charcoal briquettes for cooking and heating purposes.

The ban will remain in effect until otherwise notified by the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport.
