An event-filled weekend in Eastend helped kick off the holiday season.

On Saturday the Eastend and District Chamber of Commerce held their annual Light Up the Valley event that was capped off by a fireworks display.

"It was a beautiful evening, the wind was down and it was nice and warm," Chamber Executive member Shannon Morris said. "The crowds were excellent, we had people from all over the southwest that came down, not only for the fireworks, but the hayrides with Santa was a real hit."

The Chamber also awarded this year's best-dressed house to Charlotte Gilbert - who was the winner of $100 of Chamber bucks.

"There was a lot of stiff competition for the best-dressed house I have to say and it was wonderful to see so many people participate," Morris explained.

The day also featured Eastend Artisans Winter Art Faire, tea and fossils, family skating, and the Christmas tree lighting.
