The Southwest area is coming together to support a young boy and his family.

Eight year old Caden Dawe was born with congenital scoliosis and a section of vertebras that didn't form correctly. He is also missing two ribs and his heart is on his right side.

To date, Caden has been through a total of 17 surgeries, with more to come.

Caden's Granny, Dolores Wotherspoon, says, "He is awesome. He handles this all so well. He loves to sit and build Legos. He can build anything out of Legos. He loves Super Heroes. He's just a sweetheart."

In March, Caden will be going into Halo Traction in Saskatoon and will be spending about three months in the hospital. And, following that, there will be two more surgeries.

Dolores and other community members are organizing a Fundraiser Potluck Social in support of Caden and his family.

It will be held on Saturday March 2 starting at five o'clock in the Success Hall.

Caden's Nan, Annette Hewitt, of Shaunavon has also distributed donation boxes in that community to assist with the family's expenses.

Auction items for the Fundraiser are coming in from Shaunavon and all around the southwest. If you would like to donate contact Dolores at Cowtown Livestock in Swift Current, or Annette in Shaunavon.
