More information has emerged regarding the sexual assault convictions of a male worker at the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge in Maple Creek.

On December 19 in Swift Current Provincial Court, Stanley Dorie was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault, and his sentencing will be in Swift Current on March 5 at 3:30 p.m.

The first count came from an incident in March of 2015. Dorie went into a kitchen at the facility, and there was a female he'd engaged in flirtatious behaviour with that was bent over. They were both clothed, but he thrust his midsection into her buttocks.

The second count was in relation to an incident on December 17 2015 when Dorie went into another inmate's room for a check in the evening. She was in bed and he leaned over and kissed her on the cheek and lips, though it was unwanted by the victim.

Though neither incident was egregious for a sexual assault, the disparity in power between Dorie and the inmates is a factor.

Dorie hasn't worked at the facility since the incidents came to light. He'll have 30 days after his sentencing to file an appeal.
