Adjournments in court for both southwest residents involved in a stabbing in Maple Creek on April 5th.

Connie Oakes was in court yesterday to answer to her charges. The resident of Nekaneet First Nation entered guilty pleas for her counts of:

- one count 268(1) aggravated assault
- one count 279(2) forcible confinement
- one count 264.1(1)(a) uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- one count 145(3) breach of recognizance

A pre-sentencing report has been ordered for Oakes, as well as a Gladue report, which deals with the sentencing of an offender of Aboriginal background under Section 718.2(e) of the Criminal Code.

Oakes' matter has been adjourned until June 7th. She will be remanded in custody until that time.

The second individual, Ricki Rockthunder, made a brief appearance in court late Wednesday afternoon to answer to his charges, of which multiple are shared with Oakes. The 35-year old had his matter adjourned until May 10th. He will continue to be remanded in custody until his appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court.
