A man pleaded guilty to a number of a charges, including sexual assault, yesterday in Swift Current Provincial Court.

John Flottvik, who remains in custody, appeared in person yesterday where he accepted a lengthy list of facts read out by Crown Prosecutor Curtis Wiebe.

Justice Karl Bazin plans to sentence Flottvik, of Swift Current, Friday, as the court ran out of time yesterday.

Flottvik - who was on court orders not to consume drugs or alcohol - agreed to having committed repeated sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm on a victim on May 26, 2018, despite claiming he was too drunk to remember.

He also admitted to breaching his conditions, as he was on probation, by consuming alcohol, as well as uttering a threat to burn down a property.

The victim was able to get away from the 49-year-old Flottvik and tell neighbours, who were having a barbecue, what happened, resulting in 911 being called.

Flottvik also pleaded guilty to assaulting another woman on June 12, 2017 and on July 13, 2017. He also pleaded guilty to breaching probation in both of those instances.

There was also a guilty plea to only paying $2,000 of over $4,100 owed in restitution after a mischief offence in November, 2017.

And on February 9, 2018 Flottvik was driving over the legal blood-alcohol limit, while disqualified, when he passed a police officer and flipped him off. More guilty pleas were entered for counts pertaining to that incident.

Although guilty pleas were entered, there wasn't a joint submission for a sentence. Victim-impact statements with photos were given to the court from both women assaulted by Flottvik.
