Eastend train tracks witnessed a spike in traffic on Friday, as the North American Railcar Tour made a pit stop in the community of approximately 600.

The short trip began in Climax, making a stop in Eastend before ending the day in Shaunavon.

"It's a hobby for us, as all these cars are privately owned," Paul Maplethorpe, member of North American Railcar Operators Association (NARCOA) said. "We make arrangements through an excursion coordinator, who is Mike Ford today, and he makes arrangements for us to get out here and run on different railroads all over North America. Today is the day for the great western railroad."

Maplethorpe purchased his Fairmont Motorcar MT-14 15 years ago from Canadian Pacific Railroad.

The cars travel at around 25 miles per hour and can reach top speeds of 40 miles per hour on good welded railroads.
