The community of Gull Lake held a very successful Hockey Week back in January, and the final dollar amounts raised have been announced.

Total dollars raised from the week-long event came to $128,000.

Tracey Stenson is the Co-Chair of the Hockey Week in Gull Lake committee. She says all money raised goes to the Gull Lake Rink Complex for renovations on the building. "Going in to it we hoped to raise anywhere from 50 to 80,000 dollars, so the $128,000 well exceeded our expectations."

She adds that the committee's projected costs of the repairs at the Rink were over $400,000.

Sara Kuntz is a Member of the Rink Board and Co-Chair of the Hockey Week in Gull Lake committee. She says that now the Rink Board will be deciding where the funds are needed first. "We have talked about getting a Facility Assessment done, and so that kind of helps you with your planning. It'll show you what you should be budgeting for in the next one year, five years, ten years, etc. So that would be interesting to have that input also."

Hockey Week in Gull Lake was held January 14 to 20.
