An 18-year-old man from the Swift Current area has been arrested in Ontario after being on the run since mid-July.

Cole Ross was arrested on Saturday morning about 30 kilometres outside of the town of Hornepayne, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police say they received a call on August 10 that a man had stolen gas from a gas bar in Beardmore, Ont.

When police attempted to locate the suspect and the vehicle, it was seen travelling at a high rate of speed and police pursued.

The stolen vehicle evaded spike belts and police until being found the next morning when the vehicle successfully fled from police again.

Shortly after the vehicle escaped for the second time, the vehicle was found abandoned on a side road.

Emergency response teams and canine units were called to the scene and located Ross and a 16-year-old girl shortly afterwards.

Ross had his bail hearing held on August 13 as he faces nine charges in total including dangerous driving, racing and theft.

While the girl faces multiple charges from Swift Current, including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
