For five years now, Communities in Bloom has been beautifying the town of Shaunavon for residents and visitors.

It's been a long, cold winter and southwest area residents are ready for the nicer spring and summer weather to arrive.

The Communities in Bloom group didn't plan much last year due to a lack of volunteers and they are hoping people in the community will step up to help this spring.

Nancy Phillips is the Head of Communities in Bloom. She says it's a great way to give back to the community and she enjoys it. "Communities in Bloom isn't just the flower end of it. There's five different areas. But it just helps with the whole vision of summer. Everything's nicer when it's a little bit more colorful, and a little bit brighter, and a little bit greener. It just makes you feel a little bit happier I think."

One of the group's most recognized projects is the Pocket Park on Center Street.
