A man arrested after a major drug bust in late 2016 was sentenced in Swift Current Provincial Court this morning.
Andre Descoteaux was given four and a half years in prison, after a joint submission on nine counts (six indictable from Saskatchewan, two indictable from Alberta, and one summary from Alberta).
Descoteauxwas arrested in the early morning of December 21, 2016 and has been in custody ever since. He was found that day in a Swift Current residence where he was a tennant with 10 grams of cocaine and an ounce of crystal methamphetamine by him. There was an additional kilogram of cocaine in the building (worth between $55,000-65,000), an extra 59 grams of meth (worth $4,700), and 53 fluid ounces of liquid codeine.

Additionally there were break-in instruments, $5,500 cash, and a large-calibre bullet.

This occurred while the now-28 year old was on bail for trafficking charges coming from Alberta in May, 2016, where a traffic stop resulted in him being charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

Descoteaux's record had 27 convictions already. With today's sentence comes a lifetime prohibition on firearms and explosives, forfeiture of most items seizued during the investigation, and $1,700 in surcharges.
