Maple Creek's Mayor, Michelle McKenzie, recently returned from the SUMA Southwest Regional Meetings in Assiniboia.

She says these are important meetings for them to attend. "I feel that it is very important for the members of our community to attend these SUMA Regional Meetings, or all SUMA meetings, because it provides education..feedback from different things that they're learning. When you come back to your community you can explain and tell them exactly what they've heard and have good conversations around that, so then it's a learning experience."

McKenzie adds that one of the things she enjoyed most was the round table discussions.

Municipal leaders from 19 communities in southwest Saskatchewan attended the meetings to discuss matters of importance to their communities.

Representatives received information, as well, on topics including cannabis legalization, vehicle for hire regulations, and multi-material recycling.
