A dozen employees from the Living Sky Casino volunteered their time sprucing up the veterans' section at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Thursday.

Damone Caron, the senior operations manager at the casino, talked about why they came out and fixed up the veterans' section.

“Well, it's part of us giving back to the community and sharing. It’s part of our philosophy at the casino to give up our time to try and help out where we can.”

They spray painted, and hand painted the crosses, cement troughing at each cell of the graveyard, and the main stature white to restore them to what the once looked like.

Caron said they chose the veterans section because they wanted to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers.

"Everybody that is here has fought in the war for our freedoms and rights that we appreciate every day," Caron said. "We just wanted to give them a little bit of a spruce up just to make it look nice and make it comfortable for families and what not to come and visit."

Caron added that whatever they don't get done this year, they will finish next spring.
