Saskatchewan won't follow Alberta’s lead and cut oil production in the province. Over the weekend, Alberta cut their production by 8.7 %.

In a written statement Monday, Premier Scott Moe said the market for Saskatchewan oil is different than Alberta’s because 60 % produced in Saskatchewan is in the light to medium range, while heavier product comes out of Alberta’s oil sands.

A lack of pipeline capacity has seen Western Canadian Select oil sell at a deep discount to markets outside the U.S.
