Nearing its 40th year, the Step into Spring Home & Leisure Show kicked off on Friday and brought together local customers and businesses from around Canada.

In addition to local non-profits and businesses, businesses from as far away as Ontario made their way to the Stockade building and Palliser Pavilion at Kinetic Park to participate.

Dana Wiebe works for Swift Current Ag & Ex who put on the show, and said that at this, their 39th show, they wanted to put a focus on non-profits with this year's show.

"So when we have SaskAbilities [at the show] and we work together with Canadian Mental Health [Association], something like a not-for-profit is important, because, to the community, they need to know, what we do, we try to share and involve youth, and just be out in the community as much as we can."

Brian Lemay is the supervisor with SaskAbilities recyclability and the recycle depot, he was selling progressive 50/50 tickets at SaskAbilities booth at the show. He said that Swift Current Ag & Ex does a lot to benefit its fellow non-profit.

"Oh Ag & Ex has always been a great supporter of us, advertising on our busses, we run the ability busses around town, the transit buses, and they're always here to volunteer or ask how to help."

He said that the show had seen them make quite a few sales of 50/50 tickets.

Brent Watson, the co-chair of Swift Current Ride For Dad, said that the show was great to promote the organization's annual summer fundraiser.

"It's great, it's good exposure for us, creates awareness for what we're doing with the fight against prostate cancer."

Around 74 vendors came out to the show, with products and services ranging from ice cream to an arts and crafts workshop.

Admission fees and the price for vendors to rent a space at the show will be going back towards Swift Current Ag & Ex.
