Outdoor rinks in Swift Current have been shut down for the season.

In a release posted this morning, the City of Swift Current states the five outdoor rinks and shacks in the city have been closed due to mild temperatures and deteriorating ice conditions. The closure has been made effective immediately.

The City's Park Manager says he's happy after another successful season, in the terms of rink usage by residents, as well as several events being hosted at the facilities.

Rinks in Swift Current were in operation for eight weeks during the 2016/2017 winter season.

The city is reminding residents that the three indoor arenas have ice available for public skating, or to rent.
