The Val Marie Bob Larson Memorial Rodeo happened over the weekend.

The 53rd-annual event, named after Bob Larson over ten years ago, drew over 500 people throughout the weekend.

Dan Coupe, the president of the Rodeo committee, explained why they decided to name the rodeo after Bob Larson who passed away over a decade ago.

"He was a local guy that grew up in Val Marie and was involved in the rodeo for many years and rodeoed his whole life. He supplied stock for the rodeo for many years and was a big supporter of the youth rodeo. He supplied really good stock for the kids and made sure that every kid had a chance. That was his life and what he did, and he really helped out all the time wherever he could."

Friday and Saturday featured your typical events like bronc and bull riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, and barrel racing.

Saturday there was a live-auction fundraiser, and on Saturday night there was also a dance.

On Sunday it was all capped off with the Little Britches Rodeo.

Coupe added that the entries were a bit down, but that didn't stop people from attending.
