42 teams and 230 fundraisers came together for the 30th annual Saskatchewan Abilities Council Ability Bowl event, which raises funds to assist people with disabilities in the southwest.

This year, officials in the organization say just over $70,600 was raised for the council, one of their biggest years to date.

The top fundraiser, Dorothy Quebec, raised over $5,700. Carley Martinson, a client with Sask Abilities Council, was given the Bob Hayes Memorial Plaque after raising the most funds by a client, a total of $1,150.

"We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Swift Current community," Jessica Sauder, Community Relations Coordinator said in a press release. "Without support from our partners, sponsors, volunteers, pledges and bowlers, we couldn't provide essential services..."

Sauder says she expects the event to keep growing, and adds that the Ability Council has no plans of slowing down, even after reaching such a big 30-year milestone.

The Abilities Council say more than 2000 individuals use their service every year.
