The Town of Shaunavon has installed some pedestrian lights to make crossing the street safer for everyone.

The solar powered lights are located on both sides of the street at the corner of Center Street and Fifth Avenue.

When someone wants to cross Center Street they push a button that starts a red light flashing that alerts drivers to stop while they cross.

Ron Phillips, Director of Operations for The Town of Shaunavon, says these lights were installed on Wednesday and drivers are being reminded to stop when they are flashing.

He adds that he has applied for a grant that will hopefully enable them to install three more pedestrian lights, one at each of the community's schools.
