Friday afternoon Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe stopped in Swift Current to talk to residents at the Living Sky Casino.

The 15th Premier of the province spoke in front of a crowd of around 100 people about equalization, the carbon tax, and where the province is headed before opening the floor to questions.

For Premier Moe this was just one of many stops he has been making across the province.

"We've been out across the province and have visited a number of different communities speaking about things important to Saskatchewan people," he said. "Equalization, federally imposed carbon tax, some of the changes to policy that we see such a cannabis legalization being put forward, but also talking about the general competitiveness of our economy here in the province. Understanding that we are an export based economy. We export products to over a 150 countries all around the world, and it's those exports that are a source point of wealth in our communities and contribute to the growth to people and families and the way of life in Saskatchewan."

Moe said that from going from community to community he has learned what’s important to residents of Saskatchewan.

"We are talking about things that are important to the people of our province but also listening to people across the province," he said. "They are usually very good and very earnest and very informative for myself and all of us that represent the province and the Government of Saskatchewan."

The luncheon was hosted by the Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce and Karla Weins, the CEO said that they had a great turnout.

"Premier Moe brought a very clear message about this government, about some various significant issues that are being faced by our city, our province, our country, so we had some good questions and good response. We are always happy to facilitate an event like this because now that Premier is no longer a local resident it's not going to come around very often."

Weins added that she thinks Moe made a positive impression to those in attendance.

"It was nice that we had our provincial leader come out and talk," she said. "He was very gracious and giving of his time, and was eager with any and all who wanted to shake hands with him and get to know him a little better, I think it's clear, and whatever your political strip happens to be, this is a man who is clearly passionate about our province and wants to work to make things better.”

For many of those in attendance, this was there first meeting with Moe as the new Premier.
