Today in Maple Creek there was a protest over the transfer of Terri-Lynne McClintic.

McClintic plead guilty to murdering an eight-year-old girl in 2010 and was recently transferred from a conventional prison to Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge, a correctional centre just outside of Maple Creek with no outer-perimeter walls.

A few residents of Maple Creek wanted to show how displeased they were with the transfer, and have protested before, but decided to once more in solidarity with another protest happening in Ottawa.

The protest in Ottawa was organized by the father of the murdered eight year old, Rodney Stafford.

Attendance didn't exceed the four organizers.

Karri Williams, an organizer of the event, said that they wanted to show their support for Stafford.

"We want to stand with Rodney Stafford, and we want to support him, and we just want him and his family to know that we are behind him 100 per cent."

Williams said that while she agrees with the idea of a healing lodge, she doesn't think that it is the place for McClintic.

"People such as Terri-Lynne McClintic who have done such a horrific crime shouldn't be at a healing lodge, she should serve her time in maximum-security prison.

The small protest took place around the area of Main Street in Maple Creek.
