Saskatchewan's dry conditions have caused the province's ministry of environment to warn hunters about the increasing potential for fires.

Fire bans have been in effect for crown land and provincial parks south of the Churchill River for the last couple weeks.

With hunting season underway, hunters are reminded to take extra precautions, including carrying a fire extinguisher and shovel, limiting vehicle use, as mufflers and other parts can get hot enough to spark a fire, and keeping vehicles and camps out of tall grass when possible.

Hunters are reminded to get landowner permission if accessing private land, and to be aware of current conditions when planning a trip.
