Saskatchewan Provincial Parks will officially open for the season starting today.

The opening will include the two provincial parks located in the southwest region of the province.

Beginning this morning Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park south of the Town of Maple Creek and Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park located on Highway 4 just west of Stewart Valley will start welcoming visitors.

"Saskatchewan people love their parks," Ken Cheveldayoff MLA for Saskatoon Willowgrove and Parks, Culture and Sports Minister said. "Whether it's camping, fishing, relaxing on the beach or any of the other activities available, there is something for everyone in Saskatchewan Provincial Parks."

This year Saskatchewan Provincial Park will be celebrating Canada's 150th Birthday by offering free day entry on Canada Day, July 1, and Canada's Parks Day, July 15.

The parks will also be offering a special 150-themed geocaching program.
