The Crescent Point Wickenheiser Center in Shaunavon will be the venue today, August 9, for The Saskatchewan Roughriders Block Party presented by Special Blend.

It all begins at four o'clock this afternoon with the chance for all ages to meet Rider Alum Chris Getzlaf, Neil Hughes, and Matt Dominquez, as well as some of The Rider Cheer Team and Gainer the Gopher.

Lots of outdoor activities and a Community Barbecue will lead up to the live viewing of the game between The Saskatchewan Roughriders and The Montreal Alouettes in The Curling Rink at The Center from five until eight p.m.

Garrett Thienes from the organizing committee says Shaunavon was one of four communities chosen by votes to have a Block Party. He explained what they are raising money for. "Well, really what I identified  when we put it in was some community bleachers for up at the football field and watching the games. The ones we have there were aging. I think having some great community bleachers that can be moved around and shared for different events are an important aspect that we're kind of lacking right now."

After the game there will be a cabaret until 12   a.m.

All activities, including the cabaret, are open to all ages. Children who attend the cabaret will have to be accompanied by an adult.
