A fun-filled day in the sun for some southwest residents yesterday.

As the Saskatchewan Abilities Council - Swift Current held their first ever Winter Kickoff for the 2017 Abilities Bowl.

The Winter Kickoff event featured sled bowling, ice skating and horse wagon rides along with chili and hot chocolate.

"Today has been a wonderful day with the weather and all the activities," Jessica Sauder, Community Relations Coordinator for the Saskatchewan Abilities Council said.

The event was more than just about fun.

"We wanted to bring the community together and bring awareness to the Abilities Bowl," she told Swift Current Online. "We also wanted to bring awareness to the great services that are offered at the Swift Current Branch of the Saskatchewan Abilities Council."

The Saskatchewan Abilities Council - Swift Current is hoping to make this fun-filled event an annual one.

"The turnout and the great community support that we've seen, I'm sure we can make this an annual event," Sauder added Sunday afternoon.

This year will mark the 30th annual Abilities Bowl that will take place on April 22nd at the Frontier Bowling Lanes.
