According to a recent survey, Saskatchewan is the most attractive jurisdiction in the world for mining investment.

The Fraser Institute Annual Survey of Mining Companies ranked Saskatchewan in the number one spot, out of 104 jurisdictions in their Investment Attraction Index, up from second place in 2015.

The rankings are based on two main components:

  1. The mineral potential of an area, and
  2. The effects of government attitudes toward exploration investment.

Saskatchewan Premier and Swift Current MLA Brad Wall shared his excitement over the announcement on Facebook.

"It is why we've seen more companies choosing to invest in our province, which is creating jobs and opportunities in this key economic sector. We will work hard to protect this Saskatchewan Advantage," he said.

As for the rest of the country, Manitoba ranked second in the survey. Third place came from down under, with West Australia dropping to the spot. The Australian territory held the top spot in last year's survey.
