SaskTel announced earlier this week they have expanded their LTE network to serve more rural areas and communities across Saskatchewan.

This coverage will cover an additional 146 towers for the first time, fully completing their LTE network coverage for the southwest and southern parts of Saskatchewan.

SaskTel now has 92% of the province covered with LTE with full coverage of Saskatchewan anticipated by April 2017.

"Our government understands the unique challenges Saskatchewan's rural areas face and enhanced cellular service will provide rural customers with a valuable tool for continued success in today's world of commerce," said Dustin Duncan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel.

The LTE expansion in southern parts of the province was part of SaskTel's commitment to invest over $300 million towards capital in Saskatchewan in 2016/17 and furthermore $1.4 billion through 2016-2021.

SaskTel's LTE network will allow customers have more freedom to watch HD movies, stream music, share pictures, videos, and play games all at speeds that are up to 10 times faster than on 4G.
