Eastend's Scotty the T. rex will have a clone of sorts on display in the province's capital come the spring of next year and to facilitate that the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) is selling some artwork and other paraphernalia.

The provincial fossil is currently being made into a casting to be shown at the RSM in Regina and will take up three gallery spaces spanning over two floors.

Michelle Hunter, the executive director with the Friends of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, said the addition of Scotty to the Regina-based museum was a great opportunity.

"Eastend has always been Scotty's home and it always will be, but visits to the museum come from two really distinct markets and market areas," she said. "The museum has always felt that it was important to have Scotty who was discovered by our paleontologist housed in Regina."

To make room for Scotty in Regina, the RSM is selling some items to the public.

"We have an auction of some of our exhibit items that are in the galleries in Regina right now," Hunter said. "They include things like photographs, in a gallery called the map room it includes some of the exhibitry from a different gallery called the human factor and some cabinetry from an exhibit called zoom."

The casting is expected to be unveiled on the May long weekend in 2019.
