Created from fear of agriculture illiteracy, stewards of knowledge recently had a chance to pass on their experience in Swift Current.

A disconnect between the people of Saskatchewan and the modern day farms of the province is a concern for many local producers, and the Discover the Farm event which took place on Thursday and Friday sought to do just that.

Just over 300 kids came through the agriculture exhibition hosted in the Stockade building at Kinetic Exhibition Park.

Bringing in a myriad of different organizations to educate the public on the role that farms play in everyday life.

Tracey Stevenson, manager of the Swift Current Ag & Ex Association, said that they were looking to teach kids about several topics.

"Ag safety, safety in general, the learning of where their food comes from, we have some awesome stations this year from the cream to butter and the grain to bread.

"A lot of kids, and even adults, just think they go to the grocery store to get their food, but it does come from a source, and that is agriculture."
