Shaunavon's own Catherine Lewans has a new album out, and played in her hometown Saturday night.

After writing the songs making up 'Wild Horse' and recording them down in Nashville, country artist Lewans got the chance to return home to play the Shaunavon Plaza Theatre.

"[Recording in Nashville] was certainly a big thrill for me to be able to do that," she said. "And I worked with some very talented musicians."

It's Lewans' second album, after 2009's 'Kicking Up Dust.'

Saturday's mix of tunes included some tracks written in recent months as well as some from Lewans' earlier days of recording.

Some songs of hers are introspective, while others are takes on things going on around her.

"A lot of the time it is based on my own life, or life situations that come up," she said. "But there's a lot of times that I observe a situation in somebody else's life that inspires me to write a song as well."

"Wild Horse" is the lead track off the new album. It features artwork done by Kathleen Couturier.
