A large number of snowbirds are returning to Canada from their winter holiday due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cathie Wilton and her husband, Skip, made the journey back to Canada from Florence, AZ this past weekend.

She says they crossed into the country at the Turner Border Crossing just south of Climax late Saturday afternoon. "When we got to our local border crossing at Turner we were the only vehicle at that time and there were a couple behind us. Canadian Customs was very good. They asked us same questions they always ask, gave us information on the virus, and asked us if we understood we were going to self isolate."

Wilton adds that they made the trip home in record time.

They weren't scheduled to return to Canada until April 19, but they knew that it was important that they return as soon as possible.

They are now under 14-day self isolation.
