The Shaunavon Courtesy Van Association held their Annual General Meeting earlier this month and had a good number of people turn out.

The Courtesy Van has been running in Shaunavon for a number of years and offers rides, by donation, to seniors and other people in the community.

President of the Shaunavon Courtesy Van Association, Rick Nicholson, says they have about 35 drivers currently but are always looking for more. If you would like to volunteer to drive you can contact Rick at 297-8660.

Nicholson adds that ridership has been down just a bit over the last six months or so, but they still receive, on average, about twenty to thirty calls per day.

The Association is also making a big purchase. Nicholson says, "We've decided we're going to buy a new van. It's been two and a half years now since we've bought a van. That'll require a bunch of getting new decals and that put on the side, and the new van doesn't come with bucket seats, so we purchased a set of bucket seats last year so it's just a matter of switching out the seats."

The new van will be picked up this Saturday, August 18th, but won't be in operation until the new decals are put on.
