Shaunavon's Off-Leash Dog Park is now open to the public.

Located on the east edge of Shaunavon, surrounded by a section of the Trans Canada Trail, the Off-Leash Dog Park was the brain-child of Shaunavon resident Garrett Thienes.

He said, "I though it would be a great addition to Shaunavon if we had a small area that people could take their dog, and let if off-leash and let it run. And somewhere that had a little bit of open prairie. And we didn't really wanna utilize any of the green space land."

The Park has six foot high chain-link fence, and two sections - a 200 foot by 200 foot section for larger dogs, and a 50 foot by 200 foot section for smaller animals.

The double gated entrance gives you the option to enter the small or large side of the Park, and provides a safe zone to unleash your dog prior to entering.

Thienes says he wants to thank the many volunteers that helped prepare the Park, and encourages anyone interested in helping in the future to contain him.

He adds that fundraising will continue in the future, as the group is looking to add some new features to the Dog Park this spring.
