Shaunavon's Wildlife Federation is ready to continue a stint of community outreach programs following a charity event.

On Saturday the organization took to the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Centre in the community of Shaunavon to hold a fundraising awards banquet night.

The fundraiser was raising money through a live auction, silent auctions, and raffle tables.

Awards were given out for hunters who shot a variety of animals throughout this year's hunting seasons.

"It's a good feeling for us to see how many members we get each year," Shaunavon Wildlife Federation President Tyson Willman said. "We usually have around 240 local members every year, for a small community, that looks pretty good."

He said that by moving the event to the hockey rink, they added 125 tickets to their standard venue size.

The organization is responsible for a trout pond which they restock annually, as well as donating to the local high school archery club. Funds to do so come from fundraisers such as the banquet.

"It allows us to put back into the outdoors in our communities just so the future generations can enjoy it the way we have," he added.

Willman said that they plan on hosting the event again next year.

Donation totals are not yet known.
