A new 10-year agreement has been reached for the naming rights to the Credit Union iPlex.

Innovation Credit Union will once again have their signage on the arena, with a slight addition this time around. After the agreement was reached for $675,000 over the 10-year period, the arena will be named "Innovation Credit Union iPlex" on September 1st, 2017.

At last night's City Council meeting, Council passed two motions to agree upon the proposed deal with the two other parties present in the agreement - the Swift Current Broncos organization and Innovation Credit Union.

Dean Robson, General Manager of Community Services with the City, explains all parties are happy with the outcome.

"It was the best deal for everyone involved at the time. If you talk to others they might say, in this environment, maybe we were lucky to get more than what we got in the first ten years. But we were very fortunate to have some good people around the table discussing this - we're happy with it," he said.

Robson also says the funds from the 10-year agreement allow the City to institute some additional improvements around the facility.

"Most of our improvements go directly to the benefit of everyone - they're not specific to one group. For example, we've done a video scoreboard, speakers - which we continue to do, or maybe some additional electrical work. We put the money right back in the facility which is good for the community and good for the region," he said.

Now that the agreement has been reached, Innovation Credit Union has the ability to change the signage on the interior and exterior of the arena to match the new name. Robson notes the Swift Current-based business has the ability to switch signs before the new agreement takes over at the start of September.

The City of Swift Current's GM of Comunity Services shares that with four more years left on the CCA Finals Rodeo agreement, as well as other events coming to the facility, the increased branding of the Innovation Credit Union iPlex means "everyone wins".

The name change comes after a decade in which the Credit Union iPlex played host to two World Women's Curling Championships, the CCA Finals Rodeo, PBR, and numerous other notable events.
