The fifth and final installment of the Southwest Culture Fest was held this past weekend.

The show featured dances from Ukranian and Filipino cultures.

The performance saw the biggest crowd of the Culture Fest's year at the Lyric, with over 100 people gathering to watch, laugh, and have a good time.

"I believe just the huge crowd was a highlight besides the performances of course," Icasiana De Gala, the executive director of the Southwest Newcomer Centre, said. "Just the people coming out, the energy from the crowd, and enjoying the show and understanding both Ukrainian and Filipino cultures more."

De Gala said that they would be more than happy to do the Southwest Culture Fest next year.

"If we get funding, yes," she said. "It always depends on the availability of funding. If we can do it we will. We might not have five shows, it could just be one show, we don’t know, but we will try to have something."

De Gala said the colourful costumes, lively music, and the fiesta-like atmosphere put on by the Filipinos really made the event a "celebration of life."
