Shaunavon TaeKwonDo held their annual Sparfest this past weekend in Shaunavon, with around 150 spectators out to watch the action.

The day long event included self defense demonstrations, a look at the club's new electronic training equipment, opening ceremonies, poomsae, sparing and board breaking.

Pete Allen is the Shaunavon TaeKwonDo instructor and talks about why Sparfest is so successful. "Well, this year it's because of the Parents Committee. But I think part of it is the referees that show up. We had referees from Manitoba, Saskatachewan, and Alberta this year, including a referee that just came back from Olympic training in Mexico."

Around 100 competitors from all over Saskatchewan and Alberta took part in Sparfest.

No dollar amounts are available yet, but all funds raised go back into the club for equipment, workshops and training for coaches and referees,
